SPONSOR A CHILD

Research has shown that the first five years of a child's life is critical to his/her adult life . Although there are some social programmes in the area, they are primarily focused on youths and adults. As a result, in addition to other social outreach activities, we have developed a strong focus on early childhood education.

The mission of Maranatha Basic School is to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for every child, irrespective of his/her socioeconomic background. Our mission is to involve them in developmentally appropriate activities that will raise their self-esteem, and to work closely with parents-- building ties between home and school.

If you wish to sponsor a child/children, contact us at: Maranathamins@live.com

In addition to pastoring a church, Rev. McIntosh and his wife, Marsha, run a Marantha Basic School. The Maranatha School's Administration is headed by the principal Marsha McIntosh, a trained graduate in Early Childhood Education, has a cadre of teachers trained up to levels 1&2 Heart NTA training programme and part-time training at Shortwood Teacher's College, to deliver developmental appriopriate programmes for the students.

The school was established in September 1997 to address some pressing, social and developmental needs of the immediate community around the Church. Among these were the need for improved protection and better education for chilsren between the ages of three to six years of age. Maranatha Ministries recognized the tremendous role the Church has to play in helping the inner-city to rise above the social, economic and moral depression.

SPONSOR A TEACHER AND OR A MEAL

Teachers are the most important members of society because they shape the lives of our children. There are six teachers, four who are subsidy, [a portion of their pay that is paid by the Ministry] and the other part by the school. The Ministry of Education pays the principal, while the sixth teacher is paid by the school. There is also a cook and janitor. The teacher's salary is not sufficient enough for the teacher's and their families.

Maranatha is committed to providing nutritious and well balanced meal for each child . Meals are provided each day at a cost of $80.00 or $400.00 per week . Each child is provided for, even if he or she cannot afford to pay.

If you wish to sponsor a teacher or pay for a meal or meals, contact us at: Maranathamins@live.com
